Welcome to 14/08 and the DIVINE YARDSTICK TO BE is in 1Kings 14/08-
“And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes”
Israel has a nation had so many kings that reigned over her but David was head and shoulder above all of them.
David woo and won the heart of God to become king over Israel- “And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.” Acts 13:22
As a king over Israel, David walked in truth, righteousness and uprightness to win the great mercy of God- “And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.” 1Kings 3:6
David ended up as the yardstick through which God used to measure every other kings in Israel- “And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father.” 1Kings 15:3
He became divine yardstick because he made himself a servant of God addicted to keeping His commandments, following God wholeheartedly and doing only that which is right in the eyes of God- “and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes”
God is in dire need of you becoming His yardstick of righteousness to this generation.
God is in dire need of you becoming his reference point for truthfulness to everyone around you.
God is in dire need of you becoming His gold standard of uprightness to all and sundry.
How far are you pursuing being a man after God’s own heart?
How well do you keep all the commandments of the Lord?
How well do you follow the Lord wholeheartedly?
How far do you do only those things that are right in the eyes of God?
Prayer
O Lord let me keep all your commandments, follow you wholeheartedly and do only those things that are right in your sight so as to be your yardstick of righteousness in Jesus name.
BE A YARDSTICK OF RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR ALL AND SUNDRY!
